Care
of your Real Tree
Store
your tree in the garage away from the sun and the wind until you are ready to
bring it into your house.
Care
for your tree as you would for a fresh bouquet of flowers. Before placing the
tree in a stand make a fresh straight cut across the base of the trunk about 2"
from the bottom.
Don't
let the base of the tree dry out or a new sap seal will form and a new cut will
be necessary to insure long-lasting beauty. Keep your stand full of water. A fresh-cut
Christmas tree may absorb a gallon of water in the first 24 hours it is up, and
several quarts of water daily thereafter.
A
Christmas tree likes to be cool and out of drafts, so don't put it near your fireplace,
heat source, or television set.
Be
sure that the light cords and connections you use on your tree are in good working
order before hanging them to insure a safe holiday season.
Don't
forget to unplug holiday lights when you go to bed or leave home!
